Michael Jimenez, Certified Conceal Carry Instructor - USCCA
Meet Your Instructor - Mike
My name is Michael Jimenez. I was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, and for the last 10 years, my family and I have called Monroe Center home.
Firearms have been my passion and hobby for over 30 years. What began with BB and pellet guns around age eight grew into a lifelong commitment to safety, learning, and personal responsibility. Today, I share what I’ve learned to help others build a strong foundation and begin their own journey toward a prepared lifestyle.
Experience Built Over a Lifetime
I obtained my Hunter Safety Certification and FOID in 1997, when I was 18 years old. Throughout my twenties, I was an avid paintballer, learning valuable lessons about movement, cover, concealment, and communication under stress.
Over the years, I’ve trained with local instructors in force-on-force and active shooter scenarios and extensively studied the work of experienced firearms instructors. I obtained my Concealed Carry License in 2014 and have gained valuable knowledge through daily carry and the lifestyle surrounding it.
Helping family and friends improve their skills became a rewarding way to share what I had learned. In 2025, I obtained my Instructor Certification through the USCCA. I now provide Illinois State Police-approved curriculum and continue to take the initiative to keep my skills sharp and never stop learning.
A Strong Foundation Comes First
All skill levels can be built upon, but a solid foundation is most important. I use a crawl-to-walk, walk-to-run approach, helping students progress into more complex skills at a pace that supports their learning. Safety is of absolute importance at all times.
I believe education in situational awareness, recognizing pre-threat indicators, conflict avoidance, de-escalation, and responsible decision-making is a wise investment in yourself—before or after obtaining your CCL.
Living the concealed carry lifestyle means continuing to learn, practice, and take personal responsibility for the safety and well-being of yourself and your loved ones. My goal is to help you build that commitment into everyday life.
Why Hard Knock Scenarios?
Throughout my life, I’ve learned some of my most valuable lessons from the school of hard knocks. I’ve experienced many different types of “hard knock scenarios,” as most of us will at some point in our lives.
Navigating obstacles and overcoming adversity can become second nature out of necessity and survival. For me, a positive mindset and forward movement have been key. Those difficult experiences give us an opportunity to learn and use that knowledge to make better decisions in the future.
I created Hard Knock Scenarios to do work I love and provide a service to my community through education and training in self-sustainability. My hope is to share what I’ve learned throughout my journey with people who are ready to take the next step on their own.
Thank you for your support. Be safe. Peace and love.
